BIOMEDICAL SAFETY TECHNICIAN – DURHAM, NC

  • Pay: $24/hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (Monday-Friday)

  • NO weekends, No Call
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks | Hours per Week: 40
  • Location: Durham, NC

Quality Staffing Specialists is seeking an experienced Biomedical Safety Technician.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Biomedical Safety, Occupational Safety, or Environmental Health
  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field
  • Valid driver’s license & clean driving record
  • Must reside within 50 miles of facility
  • Must have knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to hazardous material management; basic knowledge of chemistry and other related sciences; must understand basic chemical properties such that the individual can successfully segregate various waste substances for shipping or treatment; ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports; functional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., move 400 lb. drums, and wear respiratory protection

Responsibilities
  • Collect, segregate, and manage hazardous chemical waste throughout hospital facilities, clinics, and research labs
  • Handle hazardous pharmaceutical, radiological, and universal waste
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, RCRA regulations
  • Utilize computer systems for data access, recordkeeping, and reporting
  • Work in environments ranging from office settings to hazardous or high-heat areas
