It is our mission to deliver high-quality and innovative laboratory medicine solutions to patients, clinicians and partners to improve health, add value to patient care, safeguard best clinical outcomes and support the transformation of healthcare across SYB and beyond.
We are searching for a Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Haematology laboratories at STH primarily based at the Northern General Hospital site.
Applicants must possess an accredited degree in Biomedical Sciences, have relevant experience in Haematology, and hold current registration with the HCPC (Band 5/Band 6 BMS).
We will also consider applicants without specialist portfolio if no suitable band 6 level applications are received. The appointee will join in the 24/7 OOH service provision.
The post holder will act as an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist providing scientific services to patients as an aid to clinical diagnosis. The successful candidate will be required to participate on the 24/7 out of hours rota and undertake a wide range of complex analytical procedures, performing a range of manual, semi-automated and automated tests using scientific knowledge and experience to comment upon and validate results in line with ISO 15189.
THE POST HOLDER WILL:
Be responsible for the production of accurate and timely Laboratory investigations.
Assist in maintaining high scientific and technical standards.
Adhere to all Trust and Departmental Policies.
Assist in planned Research and Development
Promote and maintain a high standard of relevant education and training.
Stimulate and take part in scientific and technical research and development (Band 6)
The successful applicant, following appropriate training, will participate in the 24/7 service provision on either site, as well as contributing to the extended core working as defined in AfC terms.
