Our Senior Bioprocess Engineer will take over and manage the operational activities of assigned manufacturing projects with overall responsibility of standardization equipment/systems at Up Stream- (USP), Down Stream Processing (DSP) and Media- and Buffer (BMS) preparation within the Business Unit, Manufacturing Complex 2 (6x20kL Large Scale Mammalian). She or he will be the functional lead for an interdisciplinary team of fellow process engineers and specialists and be accountable for the performance and results of the assigned projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement MC2 standardization equipment strategy and roadmap in alignment with local (site Visp) and global Lonza SU strategy.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams as functional lead for all manufacturing aspects of assigned projects.
  • Ensure a high level of technical and process standardization within the production plant.
  • Work as production expert in capital investment projects for building and commissioning of manufacturing units.
  • Implement state of the art GMP documents and regulatory requirements for corresponding SU assets and products.

Key requirements:

  • BSC/MSc plus respectively > 5/3 years’ experience within the biotechnology industry.
  • Excellent biotechnology expertise and/or knowledge in biotechnical engineering preferable in the area of mammalian cell culture and/or protein purification.
  • Practical experience with Single Use Systems.
  • Strong leadership and very good communication skills through interaction with all kinds of interfaces within and outside the organization; strong team orientation.
  • Structured problem solving skills (Lean Six Sigma Yellow / Green Belt), focused and well-organized working attitude; open-minded for new ideas and suggestions; high motivation and dynamic drive; solution-oriented.
  • Fluent in German and/or English; advanced GMP understanding.
