Job Description The Opportunity: Saint Luke’s Health System is seeking an experienced biostatistician to support its Neuroscience research program. This position will work alongside researchers, clinical staff and other biostatisticians to support a variety of innovative research activities. The position will assist with the design and operation of research studies, support the development of grant proposals, work actively with numerous data sources, perform a wide variety of statistical analyses, co-author publications and provide statistical consultation. This position will play a key role in ensuring the validity of data and analyses from beginning to end of a project. This is a hybrid position in the Kansas City area. Shift Details: Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM The Work: Assists in development of research protocols, ensuring statistically sound design and appropriate power/sample size assessment. Contributes to development of grant proposals, manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations. Interacts directly with sponsors, investigators, etc. on study design, data and analytic issues. Develops statistical analysis plans and advises on appropriate statistical methodologies. Works with large, complex data structures; extracts, merges, cleans and organizes data for analysis. Determines and applies appropriate statistical and/or machine learning techniques to uncover insights. Provides rigorous development and validation of machine learning models for image processing research, integrating with clinical data and behavioral data sets, supporting both predictive applications and inferential statistics. Monitors data and updates analyses/models as needed, ensuring statistical validity and protection against data-dependent analyses and inferences. Applies data management, statistical and data science best practices and ensures data quality, reproducibility, and compliance with research standards. We are seeking an experienced professional with experience in biostatistics and machine learning, demonstrated understanding of statistical theory, and exceptional statistical programming skills using SAS, R, SQL, etc. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical analyses to non-technical peers is essential. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver and active learner, adept at understanding the research questions and contexts at hand, and continuously seeking valid and efficient ways to analyze and interpret data.
