The Opportunity Our Foundations of Lung Disease Team, here at The Kids Research Institute Australia, aims to help all kids breathe better, from infancy through to early adult life, by investigating lung growth and development, with a focus on the respiratory physiology of childhood diseases e.g. chronic lung disease of prematurity, Cystic Fibrosis and bronchiectasis. We are now seeking a Biostatistician to join the team to provide scientific and statistical support for a multi-disciplinary team studying child health by providing detailed analyses of complex epidemiological problems and developing mathematical models to use in geospatial studies, writing research grant applications, writing and publishing papers and presenting results. Reporting to one of our Team Leads, you will work closely with research teams at The Kids and Perth Children’s Hospital as well as external collaborators to provide statistical analyses and research dissemination by conducting appropriate statistical analysis in reproducible research framework and preparing clear summaries of analysis results Some of your responsibilities will include: Conduct appropriate statistical analysis in reproducible research framework. Prepare clear summaries of analysis results, including the preparation of results materials for publication. Contribute to the preparation of research proposals, grant, and ethics applications. Provide support, training and guidance to team members regarding the structure of and access to information. Present research findings at internal and external meetings, seminars and conferences. Based in our modern office in Nedlands, this full-time position will be offered for 2 years. The possibility of flexibility in FTE can be discussed with the successful candidate. About You This is a diverse and rewarding role that would suit someone with previous experience in the application of statistical methods to the analysis of health data. Additionally, to be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in the following: Degree majoring in statistics, maths or equivalent Proficiency with statistical software packages for the manipulation and analysis of data. Previous experience in Experience with clinical trials data, modelling hierarchical and/or longitudinal data. Good time and project management skills, including maintain open communication regarding project progress. Proficiency with programming language R is considered highly desirable.
