Job Description Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour. (Additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 7:00pm and 11:59pm. Additional $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 12:00am-4:59am). Pre-Sorter - Pre-sort by removing birds from the line and condemning birds with defects/disease that do not meet quality criteria. Re-Hang Sorter - Perform re-hang function to ensure birds are hung properly and remove any birds with defects/disease that do not meet the quality criteria. Viscera Sorter - Examine the viscera and remove respective pack and bird that do not meet quality criteria. Carcass Sorter - Examine the bird carcass cavity and exterior and trim defects or remove any bird that does not meet the quality criteria to reroute for reprocessing. Final Trim - Perform trimming at the end of the processing line and remove for reprocessing any bird not meeting the quality criteria. Sharpen knife with steel. Don proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be able to visually examine chickens and remove birds from the line not meeting the quality criteria. ·Must have demonstrated knowledge of chicken defects/diseases and attention to detail to maintain and improve bird quality. ·Must have knowledge of food safety guidelines to ensure compliance with Company quality standards and USDA regulatory requirements. Must be able to lift, reach, handle, perform cervical flexion/extension, rotate, stand, walk, balance and stoop. Must be able to use small, hand-held tool (i.e., knife, scissors) properly. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time (8 – 10 hrs.) on concrete/metal grate floor. Must be able to perform repetitive over the shoulder reaching, torso twisting, grasping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to successfully pass NPIS test and obtain certification.
