Position Type: Full Time (30 Weekly Hours)
Work Schedule: 2-12s and 1- 8 hour shift per week

Position Summary

  • Maintains accurate patient records for the unit
  • Performs and coordinates clerical and public relations duties
  • Coordinates patient services and tests with ancillary hospital departments
  • Acts as unit receptionist: greets, receives, and directs visitors
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team and supports unit/hospital goals
  • Delivers high-quality work in accordance with established standards and guidelines
  • Willing and able to float to other comparable nursing units as needed
  • Completes the following in accordance with South Carolina Vital Records policies:
  • Birth Certificates
  • Death Certificates
  • Paternity Acknowledgements

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent (required)
  • Some college or vocational training (preferred)
  • Previous hospital experience or secretary training within the medical field (preferred)
  • Basic computer and typing skills required

  • Ability to make independent, responsible decisions while upholding policy and procedure
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Pleasant and tactful demeanor in stressful situations
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of handwritten data
  • Must be able to maintain and protect confidential information, records, and reports
  • Capable of working accurately under pressure and stress
  • Flexible to work irregular schedules, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Must obtain Notary Public upon hire and maintain status
