The BlackBerry IoT Business Unit combines BlackBerry’s core IoT assets across the company. One of groups within the IoT Business Unit is BlackBerry Radar, which is an innovative service for managing and optimizing fleet operations for businesses in the transportation sector. Solving our customers most common transportation and logistics challenges, BlackBerry® Radar can be used for tracking trailers, intermodal containers & chassis, equipment, railcars and more.
All BlackBerry Radar tracking data is secured with BlackBerry encryption and authentication services; the devices are powered by BlackBerry® QNX®, our OS for embedded systems. BlackBerry Radar devices are rugged and low maintenance, equipped with batteries that can last as much as five years.
Are you the person we are looking for?
We are hiring a Strategic Initiatives Director to help develop and implement the product strategy for its telematics-based offerings. In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will gain an in-depth understanding of the needs of potential customers and the larger market, leveraging this knowledge to help design and implement data-driven solutions that deliver significant value. This position requires the establishment and maintenance of strong partner relationships with major industry players, associations, and customers, providing insight for the development of cutting-edge and innovative solutions.
Furthermore, this role will be directly responsible for identifying the most valuable data sources for both existing and prospective customers and effectively communicating these insights to demonstrate a clear and feasible return on investment (ROI) for BlackBerry and its clients. This role is crucial in driving the implementation of strategic solutions that will propel growth and profitability, ensuring BlackBerry Radar remains at the forefront of the industry.

You will:

• Develop and implement a strategic product development plan in collaboration with other executives and stakeholders.
• Monitor, report, and support development efforts undertaken by the BlackBerry product teams.
• Foster professional relationships with industry leaders to understand and recognize opportunities for innovative and profitable solutions.
• Track and report on commercial sales efforts around new product offerings.
• Accompany sales team members, when necessary, to demonstrate the functionality and real-world value of new product offerings, whether they are commercialized or still in development.
• Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including customer executives, key influencers, and industry organizations (FRA, AAR, IANA, NARS, TTX, ATA, etc.).
• Engage in business development activities by identifying potential growth opportunities and developing partnerships with other organizations.
• Stay informed on industry trends and changes, adapting the organization’s product development strategy as needed to remain competitive.
• Report findings to BlackBerry senior leadership and other stakeholders as directed.
• Collaborate with BlackBerry marketing in advertising efforts within industry trade publications, including authoring advertorial articles and representing the company at industry events.

You will have:

• Extensive experience in strategic planning, product management, and sales within the technology or solutions industry.
• Experience in strategic initiatives, product management, or business development roles.
• Proven track record of successfully working with cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
• Deep understanding of telematics, IoT, and data analytics technologies.
• Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
• Strong networking skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with industry leaders and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
