Blade Access Platform (BAP) Chief Operator Position Purpose To lead and oversee the safe and efficient operation of the Blade Access Platform (BAP) during blade inspection, repair, and maintenance activities. The Chief Operator ensures compliance with operational and safety procedures, coordinates with clients and site management, and maintains overall responsibility for equipment integrity, personnel safety, and task execution. Key Duties & Responsibilities • Lead daily BAP operations including rigging, de-rigging, and platform movement. • Act as the main liaison with the client, ensuring transparent communication and reporting. • Enforce safety standards, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with work permits. • Monitor environmental and operational conditions (wind speed, weather, load limits). • Maintain detailed operational records, logs, and inspection reports. • Ensure all equipment, tools, and consumables are properly managed and maintained. • Supervise technicians working from the platform and ensure adherence to safe work procedures. Qualifications & Experience Education: Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (preferred). Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in wind turbine blade maintenance or Blade access platform operations, with at least 2 years in platform or lifting system operation. Certifications: GWO (BST) Authorized BAP Operation Training (e.g., Kauefer / SQYFlex / PowerClimber) Basic First Aid, Work at Height, and Rescue Certificates Key Skills & Competencies • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical platform systems. • Proven leadership and team coordination skills. • Excellent communication and client-handling ability. • High awareness of safety standards and permit-to-work systems. • Ability to interpret technical manuals and operational procedures. • Competent in maintaining documentation, inspection logs, and digital reporting. • Calm and decisive under pressure, especially during high-risk operations. Physical & Environmental Conditions • Physically fit to work at height and in confined or offshore environments. • Ability to work in variable weather conditions and remote sites. • Availability for rotation or extended work schedules as per project needs.
