The blaster prepares surfaces for painting and finishing between the fabrication of the raw sheet metal and the welding of the material. There is a degree of physicality to the position in order to move the material between pallets and the blast booth. This position works in a full body-suit while using blasting equipment in the blast booth. Job Duties Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and inspects the surface of the metal in order to maintain our high-quality standards. Operates, cleans and maintains all equipment, including tanks, hoses, sprayers and pumps, etc. Safely stores and labels all materials. Maintains and repairs/replaces all personal protective equipment. Responsible to set up and maintain operation of the blast booth. Loads and moves materials within the area, and between departments using manual pallet jack Requirements Requirements Ability to left up to 100 pounds; 30 – 50 pounds regularly Demonstrated ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely Ability to safely operate a manual pallet jack Must be able to work for extended periods of time with a protective suit Experience using standard measuring tools (i.e. micrometers and gauges) Attention to detail while inspecting for company quality standards Minimal computer usage in tracking job flow in department Ability to use sander and grinder Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) the English language clearly This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of job duties.
