The location in Crofton, (British Columbia, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Bleach Plant Superintendent. This job is full-time permanent.
Description
Organize and manage all aspects of the Crofton Mill Pulp Machine and Stock Preparation operations by implementing and adhering to mill operating objectives and policies. This position works closely with Fibreline Manager, Superintendents and Shift Supervisors as well as other mill functional areas to meet and exceed safety, environmental, quality, reliability, and production goals.
Responsibilities
Safety , Environmental & Quality
Lead the establishment of a safe workplace by supporting and implementing mill policies, safety initiatives and accountability. Ensure a clean and safe workplace is maintained through good housekeeping practices.
Support and perform workplace safety assessments for equipment and/or work tasks. Educate staff and employees on safety and compliance issues, lead incident investigations, developing timely action plans to prevent reoccurrences.
Ensure compliance with Environmental targets and permits as they pertain to the area of responsibility.
Track Environmental and Safety compliance and performance progress and develop, review and modify safe operating and lock-out procedures.
Ensure all operating employees receive the proper safety indoctrination and training needed to perform their roles safely and effectively
Operations, and key job accountabilities
In support of Fibreline objectives, direct the economical and effective performance of the Pulp Machine operations:
Provide safety, quality, service and operating objectives within the department, assuring implementation of effective plans to meet established goals,
Review and analyze all operating results, including safety, quality, efficiencies and costs, determining appropriate actions to improve margins and correct unfavorable trends,
Develop and mentor others within the department with appropriate training and development plans. Participates in labor relations activities, as necessary.
Monitor area performance against establish performance indicators and ensure effective utilization of systems to support same. This includes CE, Incite, Metris, SAP and other initiatives such as PCA (maintenance best practices).
Provide technical direction and expertise for equipment, materials, maintenance, and procedures for effective operations. Lead efforts to improve equipment reliability and uptime using the reliability road map guidelines.
Utilize improvement initiatives maximize production and minimize costs. Collaborate with Technical support, suppliers
and other SME to ensure ongoing investigation into area performance.
Assist Fibreline Manager to develop budgets, capital expenditures, and other strategic initiatives to support SKK’s mill operation.
Provide timely feedback of relevant information to management and make valid recommendations for improvements to operating and management effectiveness.
Ensure production of high quality pulp by assisting in the development and implementation of quality programs and procedures.
Responsible for working with the Shift Supervisors in troubleshooting areas of concern; control of variable and fixed costs; assist overseeing the Shift Supervisors in their day-to-day activities.

Employee Relations & Customer Satisfaction
Through the Shift Supervisors, ensure the development and implementation of an effective operator management plan including performance appraisals, development, coaching and mentoring.
Assist Fibreline Manager with mentoring and developing Shift Supervisors, including performance appraisals, professional development, coaching and mentoring
Support Shift Supervisors in resolution of labor relation issues including grievances and disciplinary actions.
Maintain good relationship and coordinate closely with the Fibreline team, Maintenance, Technical, Procurement,Logistics/Sales and other departments, as needed.
Financial Accountability
Plan and collaborate with Production Maintenance Coordinator to maximize available production time and minimize costs incurred by unscheduled breakdowns.
Responsible to meet for departmental budget.
Monitor and review costs and adjust plans to meet cost targets and report on variances, as required.
Other
Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports as required to ensure documentation of performance Perform area or mill leadership on-call weekend rotation.
Qualifications
University or Technical College degree in a related field is preferred Eight (8) years of pulp machine experience
An in-depth knowledge of the pulp process and the demonstrated ability to organize, plan, lead and motivate people to achieve established objectives
Demonstrated ability to engage and lead personnel
Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable in a small team environment and interacting with senior level manager Proven technical, project management and strategic skills
