Equipment Operator Location: 1351 Bloomington Road, Richmond Hill, Ontario Position Type: Contract Full-Time (April to December) (Day & Afternoon Shifts) Reporting To: Facilities Manager Start Date: Immediately Day Hours: Afternoon Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am start, alternating Saturdays, 7:00am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday, 2:00pm to 12:00am, alternating Saturdays, 7:00am to 3:00pm Compensation: $21 per hour About Miller Waste Systems: Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. Summary: The Equipment Operator is responsible for supporting daily site operations by safely handling materials, assisting with processing activities, and working collaboratively with the team to maintain an efficient and well-organized facility. This role requires a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment. Responsibilities: In the position of Equipment Operator your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Must adhere to Miller Waste Systems safety protocols and must be familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act. Operate front-end loaders, screeners, and other composting equipment. Ensure timely and efficient daily processing of materials. Support continuous improvement of daily operations while maintaining safety standards. Work collaboratively with other equipment operators, staff, and customers. Perform other duties as required. Competencies & Qualifications: Valid G Class Driver’s Licence required. Valid First Aid and WHMIS certification are considered an asset. Minimum 2 years of related experience. Previous heavy equipment experience is an asset, along with mechanical aptitude and knowledge of loader pre-operational checks. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Flexibility with work schedule is required as start and end times may vary; Statutory Holidays and/or Saturdays may be required. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attendance and performance record. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various seasonal weather conditions. Preference will be given to individuals who have completed the Miller Waste Systems loader training course or possess a Heavy Equipment Certificate.
