R.K. Marine, operates 2 Boat Yards on the River Hamble, provides marina berths, marine engineering and marine parts. R.K. Marine has built a reputation as a dependable resource among boat owners and marine companies, for providing Boat Yard Services, parts supply and marine engineering services.
They are now seeking a reliable and practical individual to join their team as a Boatyard Operator, based at Hamble River Boat Yard, Swanwick, Southampton.
Boat Yard Operator, the role:
The role involves supporting all aspects of day-to-day Boatyard operations, including boat handling, use of yard machinery (hoists, cranes, forklifts), basic maintenance, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. This is a full-time position within a small, dedicated team, in a busy customer-focused Boatyard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with boat movements using hoists, trailers, telehandler or other boatyard equipment.
  • Operating plant and machinery safely and efficiently.
  • General yard duties, including maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Working safely and professionally as part of a small team.
  • Dealing with customers in a courteous and helpful manner.

Boat Yard Operator, the person:

  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
  • Hands-on and practical, with strong work ethic.
  • Experience in a boatyard, marine, or plant environment (preferred).
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Valid NPORS or equivalent certification of the following is highly desirable:

o Boat hoist / travel lift
o Dockside crane
o Telehandler
o Boat mover
