Description Position Information: The part time Body Shop Assistant is an entry-level technician position that will work as an assistant in the Body Shop, focusing on parts staging, cleaning cars for delivery, and assisting Autobody technicians with the focus on learning and skill development. Areas of Emphasis: Exemplify the Thomas Automotive Core Values: Positive, Trustworthy, Motivation, Compassion, and Dedication Understand the Thomas Core Focus of “Bringing Integrity to the Automotive Industry” and “Building Trust and Confidence through Exceptional Service” Learn, Understand, and incorporate the Thomas philosophy of doing business into all daily activities related to customer and coworker relationship management Be a great team member Successfully Maintain the following accountabilities Stage parts for repairs Organize and maintain Shop Clean cars for delivery Assist with prep duties as assigned Duties and Responsibilities: Greet every customer, every day Maintain high ethical standards when dealing with customers, co-workers and vendors. Put safety first. Must adhere to all safety process, procedures and personal protective equipment requirements and standards Pre-washes all vehicles to remove dirt and debris prior to written estimates or painting Full detailing of all repaired vehicles before vehicles leave repair facility Assist with routine shop maintenance Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received Stage parts for repairs Prepare vehicles for body repair work Notify management of any additional repairs needed Notify management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time Maintain tools and equipment in a proper state of repair Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Report any deviations to management. Cooperate and assist Body Shop personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles Understand, keep abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Maintain a safe and clean workspace, as well as ensuring the entire facility is orderly, clean and free of hazards Requirements Qualifications: High school or vocational-technical school diploma or equivalent. One year certificate from college or technical school preferred; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Working knowledge of all aspects of repairs for damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Must be a reliable, efficient and responsible individual with a positive attitude. Working Conditions: This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
