DAWSON MINE

Our Dawson operation is a large open-cut coal mine and is showing no signs of slowing down! Dawson’s mining process is completed by varied fleets of which this role focuses on the biggest; Draglines, Electric Rope Shovels, 600t & 260t Hydraulic Excavators fleets and diesel Overburden Drill fleet.
It’s not just the interesting large pieces of equipment that you would be working on in the field, it’s also the placement of Dawson, it is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.
Job Description
-An opportunity exists for an experienced, qualified Boilermaker to join our Maintenance team at our Dawson Mine in Moura, QLD. This is a permanent full-time role reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working within the Maintenance team you will carry out our preventive and general maintenance and repair work in the Workshop.

The Boilermaker’s key responsibilities are:

  • Fabrication and Repairs on Heavy Mobile Equipment on an open-cut coal mine site.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the workshop.
  • Attend to breakdowns and diagnosing problems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and installations.
  • Work independently where required and within a team environment.
  • Utilise computerised maintenance management systems.
  • Undertaking training and upskilling as required.
  • Facilitate and participate in job risk assessments.

Qualifications

  • -Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking) or equivalent.
  • Welders Qualification Test Certificate – AS/NZS ISO 9606
  • Previous experience working as a Boilermaker within the mining industry (Coal preferably).
  • Have demonstrated experience with heavy mobile mining equipment.
  • Current Australian Driver’s License.
  • Confined Space and Working at heights tickets are desirable.
  • Additional equipment tickets are desirable: Elevated Work Platform, Forklift, Rigging and Dogging, HR License.
