Description
This position supports the Cardiac Surgery Triage office/CNS, with the daily work of the office related to processing of referrals and booking cases. The Booking Clerk schedules all Cardiac Surgery procedures consisting of testing, preop and OR booking for inpatient, outpatient, and emergent cases. This position provides administrative support services within the department, and interacts with patients and families, surgeon’s offices, and other administrative staff such as the office clerk. Other responsibilities include: coordinating internal and external communication, collecting and producing monthly statistical reports, entering patient data into CorHealth Ontario Registry and performing other clerical functions as required. All related duties and responsibilities adhere to the policies and procedures of Hamilton Health Sciences and the Cardiac Surgery triage office. Grade 12 or equivalent • Post-secondary diploma in office administration program, or recent office experience • Medical terminology certification • Keyboarding skills, minimum of 40 wpm (subject to testing) • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and database applications • Demonstrated experience in using Meditech applications including, but not limited to Community Wide Scheduling, Patient Care Inquiry and Order Entry Modules • Demonstrated experience in using CorHealth Registry for Data Entry and DataFax • Experience in booking procedures and/or appointments and management of wait lists • Knowledge and skill in administrative office procedures and use of relevant equipment • Demonstrated effective communication, organization and interpersonal skills within an interdisciplinary team environment • Professional, with good organization and problem solving skills, with the ability to prioritize, use critical thinking, and work with minimal supervision
