Role description The CoE Legal and Public Affairs Services team is looking for a Privacy Analyst as part of the Data Inventories team that provides support to the Privacy Team within the Legal and Public Affairs department of Booking.com. Privacy Analysts set and execute tactical or operational plans within Privacy and Data Protection, as a senior individual. They set objectives and deliver results that have an impact within the context of a wider operational area within the company. Privacy Analysts - Data Inventories are responsible for delivering privacy compliance through the maintenance and development of the Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) and Data Flow Maps in accordance with data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy legislation. The role supports privacy compliance by ensuring records are accurate, complete, and aligned with legal and operational requirements. Privacy Analysts are responsible for supporting the wider privacy function by contributing to operational accountability and record-keeping activities. They must have great communication skills, be able to tell ‘the story’ to drive engagement, and proactively inform and involve relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. Customer Service, Legal, Technology, Finance). This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week. Key Job Responsibilities and Duties Work closely with internal and external stakeholders (DPO, PLT, Business) to create, maintain and archive Records of Processing Activities and corresponding Data Maps as per the agreed BAU process. Apply changes to ROPA attributes and structures to reflect updates in regulatory guidance, processing activities, or system configurations. Lead the development and maintenance of assessment templates by contributing to design and alignment with data records. Lead or contribute to the implementation of process improvements related to ROPA and data mapping. Use ROPA insights to support privacy risk identification and contribute to accountability reporting. Perform analysis at the business transaction level to understand what happened, and what mitigation measures are to be taken. Use a combination of manual and automated tools to proactively analyze various sources of data. Lead and support the design, creation, and maintenance of procedures for internal and external software, tools and documentation. Lead and contribute to initiatives that improve the company’s risk management practices as it pertains to the processing of personal data. Create Privacy awareness while maintaining focus on a positive customer experience tailoring the message to specific audiences. Convince others to accept new concepts, practices and approaches in the domain of Privacy and Data Protection. Influence stakeholders including senior stakeholders, to come to an agreement about issues that are operational in nature. Work effectively with team members and leadership by communicating Privacy trends and sharing ideas and knowledge. Adapt or enhance quality or value in existing methods. Analyze complex issues and modify working methods in a broader work area. Onboard new products and tools, support the implementation of automation workflows. Collaborate with software development and engineering teams for debugging and troubleshooting. Role Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor’s degree (or relevant specialised diploma in Privacy) At least 3 years of knowledge and experience with regards to privacy and data protection legislations such as GDPR, LGPD, CCPA, etc Experience in creating and updating records of processing activities and data mapping Ability to investigate, retrieve and analyze data Ability to prioritize incoming escalations and requests appropriately using clear communications Strong decision making ability and self-disciplined Strong assertive communication skills Comfortable working autonomously and escalating when needed Strong critical thinking skills A process mindset with a focus on continuous improvement Motivated by a dynamic and fast-paced environment Comfortable with picking up new tools and tech seamlessly A Bachelor’s Degree in Law is a plus CIPP/E (IAPP) or CIPT certifications are a plus Experience in working with OneTrust or other privacy tool is a plus Fluency in G.Suite or Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
