Join Thunder Spirit Venture, a growing (literally growing - cannabis) company based in Fenwick, ON. We are passionate about delivering the most high quality cannabis on the market and are looking for a dedicated Bookkeeper to join our finance team.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to manage our company’s financial records. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting the financial health of the organization. This role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting practices, and proficiency with accounting software.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education & Experience:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; OR Equivalent practical experience in bookkeeping.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
  • Experience in the cannabis industry is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, NetSuite).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUMIFS).
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with payroll processing and tax remittances.
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks (especially Online) is highly desirable

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) efficiently, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Prepare and process payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to management.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Monitor and track inventory (if applicable) and cost of goods sold.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, provincial/state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Manage expense reports and employee reimbursements.
  • Collaborate with the financial controller or management to identify areas for financial improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Perform other administrative and financial duties as required.
