The Copper Penny is a Kingston landmark, known for great food, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’re looking for a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our team as a Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to support our operations behind the scenes.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the General Manager, this role is responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including preparing weekly payable, issuing cheques to vendors, and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and has proven experience in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Diploma or coursework in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
    Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
    Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 15 per week

Responsibilities
  • Prepare a weekly payable list and issue cheques to vendors
  • Maintain vendor files and records; Input and process invoices
  • Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting and account balancing
  • Track and organize expenses, receipts, and supporting documentation
  • Support payroll preparation and other financial processes as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and business information
  • Other administrative duties as required to support restaurant operations
