About the Role We are seeking a meticulous, experienced Bookkeeper / Finance Manager to own the day-to-day financial operations of a fast-paced, fully remote company. This role is central to ensuring accurate billing, clean accounts receivable, disciplined expense management, and strong financial hygiene across multiple revenue streams. You will take full ownership of complex client and internal billing workflows currently handled internally, bringing structure, consistency, and accountability to our financial operations. This role works in close partnership with our Chief of Staff and leadership team and is supported by an external accounting firm that handles higher-level accounting, tax, and strategic finance work. What You’ll Do Billing & Accounts Receivable Own all client billing processes, including: Monthly retainers Project-based billing Pass-through and reimbursable expenses (e.g., press releases, award submissions, on-site work Sponsorship and advertising billing tied to COMMAND’s owned media properties Ensure invoices are accurate, detailed, and sent on time Track payments, manage collections, and follow up on outstanding invoices Resolve billing questions and discrepancies in coordination with client services and leadership Expense Management & Payables Review and reconcile monthly expenses for approximately 30 corporate cardholders Identify incorrect, non-compliant, or unclear spend and work with employees to resolve issues Manage vendor bills, subscriptions, and recurring expenses Maintain clean categorization and documentation of all expenses Financial Operations & Reporting Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking Prepare clear financial summaries and reports for leadership Partner with the external accounting firm by providing clean books, documentation, and operational context Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as a trusted finance partner to the Chief of Staff Interface regularly with co-founders and partners on financial questions and reporting Work closely with operations and media teams to ensure billing and expenses align with contracts and scopes Who We’re Looking For 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial operations, ideally in a services-based, agency, or fast-growing business Deep hands-on experience with complex, high-volume billing and accounts receivable Exceptional attention to detail and pride in clean, accurate financials Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment Clear communicator who can explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders Experience with accounting and expense tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Ramp, Brex, Expensify, or similar Our COMMAND Values Lead with integrity: Our credibility and reputation are irreplaceable.
