ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Bottrell Business Consultants is a respected provider of accounting, tax, business advisory, and financial planning services in Newcastle & Maitland. We work closely with our clients to ensure their financial operations are efficient and compliant. We are currently seeking a Contract Bookkeeper to assist our clients with their bookkeeping needs on a flexible basis.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in a public practice or contract role
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
  • Experience with payroll processing and statutory reporting (BAS, IAS)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and client management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients
  • Relevant qualifications such as Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting (preferred but not essential)

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Contract Bookkeeper to provide essential financial services to our diverse range of clients. This role is ideal for an experienced bookkeeper seeking flexibility. You will be responsible for handling clients’ day-to-day financial operations, including managing accounts, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and other statutory compliance reports
  • Process payroll, ensuring compliance with award conditions and tax obligations
  • Collaborate with clients to resolve bookkeeping and accounting issues
  • Provide financial reports and insights to assist clients in managing their businesses
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations
