Description:
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions across German and Irish entities of Maveric Contractors Ltd, ensuring that financial records are accurate, current and in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
This role will also involve preparing financial statements, handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts, and assisting with audits. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software.
This role will be based in our Frankfurt office and is full-time.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- Essential:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or similar role.
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in bookkeeping or accounting preferred (e.g., AAT, CPA).
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- German language at C1 proficiency level
- Desirable:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in payroll management and tax compliance.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and financial audits.

EXPERIENCE:
- Essential:
- At least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Experience with financial record-keeping, account reconciliation, and report generation.
- Desirable:
- Experience in construction industry or a similar industry or sector.
- Previous experience working with audits or financial compliance.
- Experience on German accounting and business software system, DateV.
Responsibilities:
- General Bookkeeping:
- Record daily financial transactions and classify them appropriately.
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and other accounting documents.
- Post journal entries and maintain general ledgers.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial data in accounting software.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring that payments are processed on time and accurate billing is done.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on overdue payments.
- Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements with the company’s records, ensuring accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and financial records.
- Payroll:
- Assist in payroll preparation and ensure all payroll transactions are accurate.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and provide required tax filings.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (e.g., balance sheets, income statements).
- Provide reports on financial performance as needed by management.
- Tax Compliance:
- Ensure tax records are kept in compliance with local laws and assist in preparing tax filings.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and ensure the company remains compliant.
- Audit and Documentation:
- Prepare documentation for audits, ensuring all records are well-organized and easily accessible.
- Work with external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Financial Analysis (if required):
- Analyze financial data to identify trends or discrepancies.
- Provide recommendations for improving financial processes and cost control.
