EXPERIENCED BOOKKEEPER – CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

Moffat Davis Electrical is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Bookkeeper with solid experience in the construction industry and strong knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme). We’re looking for someone who not only understands the day-to-day of bookkeeping but can also contribute to improving our internal systems, help drive efficiencies, and support the preparation of management accounts.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain accurate and timely financial records using Sage Line 50.
  2. Post and reconcile purchase invoices.
  3. Reconcile supplier statements and ensure supplier payments are correctly processed.
  4. Manage and reconcile company credit card transactions.
  5. Create and manage purchase orders within Sage, ensuring alignment with project needs.
  6. Prepare and manage management accounts with support from the accounts team.
  7. Submit VAT returns and assist with payroll as needed.
  8. Ensure full compliance with CIS: verify subcontractors, submit monthly CIS returns, and maintain related records.
  9. Collaborate with other departments to support certification management and O&M manual preparation.
  10. Assist in audit preparation and ensure all financial documents are filed and organized appropriately.
  11. Review and suggest improvements to existing financial processes and systems.
  12. Support with general financial admin and help keep accounts running smoothly during busy periods or staff absences.
