REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post secondary education in a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping and payroll experience with solid Canadian payroll knowledge
  • Full-Cycle payroll knowledge
  • QuickBooks online and Ceridian experience is a strong asset
  • Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
  • Well-informed in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
  • Outstanding data entry skills
  • Understanding of federal and provincial payroll regulations and requirements
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and takes ownership of their work
  • Customer Service oriented
  • Ability to manage changing priorities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping

  • Maintain books of account (including but not limited to preparing checks, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash)
  • Tracking commissions from various vendors and allocating them to the correct advisor
  • Oversee issuing of checks/payment of invoices
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements for advisors
  • Liaise with staff and support them in bookkeeping needs related to their program areas
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets, and assist with preparation for any audits or independent reviews
  • Complete monthly reconciliation for all accounts (bank and brokerage accounts)
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on the organization’s books of account
  • Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities
  • Assist clients with their bookkeeping needs and offer consulting/support

Payroll

  • Complete all payroll functions: process monthly payroll, submit remittances, process ROE’s, generate T4’s, etc.
  • Coordinate with HR to maintain employee records and ensure employee data is correct and accurate
  • Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees
  • Assist clients with payroll questions and inquiries and offer consulting/support
