QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ year experience or relevant certifications in bookkeeping, accounting, or payroll
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, and Accounting CS preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Familiarity with local tax laws and payroll regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends during January–March
  • Agricultural industry knowledge is a plus
  • Must be a team player and self-starter

Responsibilities

BOOKKEEPER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate monthly financial records
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, loan statements, and general ledger accounts
  • Prepare year-end financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • File Secretary of State reports and maintain corporate compliance
  • Manage business licensing requirements and renewals
  • Prepare and file Sales and Excise Tax returns
  • Prepare and submit Heavy Highway Use Tax forms
  • Maintain consistent and proactive communication with clients to meet critical financial and compliance deadlines

PAYROLL SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process payroll accurately and on time for all employees (weekly, biweekly, or monthly, as applicable)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes to wages or benefits
  • Calculate and process bonuses, commissions, retroactive pay, and other special compensation
  • Manage and track paid time off (PTO), sick leave, and holiday pay
  • Ensure timely preparation and filing of quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns (e.g.,
  • 941s, 943s, 940, W-2s, W-3s, & state equivalents)
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee information
  • Stay current with changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and best practices
