Description

Our client, a well-established construction company in the Durham Region, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their growing team. In this role, you will manage day-to-day financial operations, maintain accurate records, and ensure smooth payroll (including unions) and accounting processes. If you’re organized, proficient in SAGE, and have a strong foundation in bookkeeping, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record daily financial transactions and manage posting processes
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable with accuracy and efficiency
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records
  • Process payroll and union dues, calculate wages/deductions, and submit remittances (WSIB, CRA)
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date financial records
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities

Qualifications:

  • 2–3+ years’ experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role
  • Hands-on experience with payroll processing and remittances
  • Proficiency with SAGE and strong Excel skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field is an asset
