Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of entry-level professional accounting duties, such as gathering financial information, preparing reconciliation statements, entering financial transactions, maintain accounts payable/receivable, and assisting in maintaining sound financial records for the company.

KNOWLEDGE:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

One year of bookkeeping experience is required. Accounting, bookkeeping, or closely related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis to meet the education requirement. A highly qualified candidate will have a four-year degree and several years of bookkeeping, accounting, or financial experience.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains accurate accounting records by preparing, entering or verifying all financial transactions.
  • Audits cash receipts and/or refunds issued for the company.
  • Reconciles accounts and identifies and prepares corrections by collecting and analyzing account information and analyzing accounting options.
  • Maintains and updates employee information in Quickbooks.
  • Reviews daily cash transactions for accuracy; balances accounts to appropriate funds; reconciles and/or make corrections.
  • Compiles financial data and provides reports to management.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal tax and accounting laws.
  • May assist in tax preparation.
  • Maintains the company’s petty cash account, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement.
  • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers and journals.
  • Assists in annual budget preparation.
  • Prepares invoices to customers and tracks accounts receivable.
  • May prepare, enter and approve fixed asset transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting procedures and company policies and standards.
  • Prepares financial statements and/or special reports by preparing balance sheets and income statements and reports; collects, analyzes, and summarizes account information and trends.
  • Assists with various clerical operations or special projects as required.
  • Maintains and updates employee information in Quickbooks.
  • Manages time clock entries and distributes cards to managers for approvals, updates weekly payroll and issues payroll checks.
  • File Federal and State forms and pay taxes. Prepare and file local government reports.
  • Liaison with insurance agents and/or insurers to provide information and reports for renewals and updates for employee benefits (including COBRA), auto, worker’s comp, and liability policies.
  • Updates donor database with donation information from other websites, (ex. PayPal, Facebook, etc.), and corporate and individual donations made via ACH and checks.
  • Maintain In-kind donor GD spreadsheet (volunteer updated)
  • Creates GD Transfer Agreements for rescues on transport days.
  • Review driver safety records and training progress in Samba Safety and update in GD. Enter driver van assignments in GD. Enter van maintenance and repairs charges into GD.
  • Purchase office and other supplies and services, as requested.
