This is a remote position. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (NZST) — includes a 1-hour unpaid break Total Weekly Hours: 40 hours You’ll be the financial backbone of a thriving childcare business, taking complete ownership of bookkeeping operations across six locations. This isn’t just number-crunching — you’ll be directly supporting an organization that makes a real difference in children’s lives, while working with modern accounting systems and building strong relationships with parents, suppliers, and professional partners. You’ll have the autonomy to manage the full financial workflow and the satisfaction of knowing your work keeps quality childcare services running smoothly. Responsibilities Manage accounts payable and receivable across six childcare center locations. Perform comprehensive bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records. Proactively chase aged debtors and follow up on overdue accounts to optimize cash flow. Coordinate seamlessly between Xero accounting software and Discover ECE student management system. Build professional relationships with parents, suppliers, and New Zealand-based accountants. Track cash flow patterns and prepare monthly financial reports for leadership review. Integrate invoicing processes between specialized childcare software and accounting systems. Identify and flag financial discrepancies before they escalate. Process approximately 400 transactions monthly with precision and attention to detail. Requirements Certified experience with Xero accounting software (non-negotiable). Full-spectrum bookkeeping expertise — beyond basic accounting assistant level. Strong communication skills for professional interactions with parents and suppliers. Experience managing AR/AP processes for multi-location or complex businesses. Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused mindset. Bonus: Experience with specialized industry management software. Preferred: Background in service-based industries involving client coordination.
