Nixon Hospitality is looking for a full-time Bookkeeper Assistant.
Nixon Hospitality is a locally owned and run hospitality group consisting of the BNA Brewing brand, Skinny Duke’s, Bernie’s Kelowna, The Bohemian Cafe, The Kal, Snowshoe Sam’s, Sopra Sam’s and Public Liquor.
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper Assistant to support our finance operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role involves assisting with day-to-day financial tasks including invoice processing, account reconciliation, payroll support, and maintaining accurate records related to our restaurant operations. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to get into the bookkeeping industry and a passion for hospitality to grow within a dynamic team. Candidates should be available to work during the day/early evenings and on weekends.
Location: Downtown, not remote, open office environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or a degree in accounting, finance, or hospitality management is a plus
  • Previous bookkeeping or finance assistant experience in a hospitality setting preferred (hotel, restaurant, bar, or event venue)
  • Familiarity with hospitality systems such as POS is a strong advantage (e.g., Squirrel, TouchBistro, Profitek)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software (e.g., Sage50)
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills and team collaboration
  • Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and payroll information
  • A proactive, service-oriented mindset that aligns with hospitality values

Responsibilities
  • Assist in processing daily sales reports, cash handling, and POS reconciliations
  • Record and reconcile transactions related to food & beverage, rooms, events, and other revenue streams
  • Assist with vendor invoice entry, purchase orders, and payment processing
  • Support payroll preparation and staff time tracking as needed
  • Reconcile petty cash, credit card transactions, and staff expenses
  • Support finance team in preparing bi-weekly financial statements
  • Maintain accurate filing of financial documents (digital and paper)
  • Assist with inventory reconciliation and stock control reporting
  • Respond to internal departments regarding billing and payment inquiries
  • Support compliance with hospitality-specific financial standards and reporting deadlines
