Primary objective
To co-ordinate all aspects of Box Office operations for the Araluen Cultural Precinct with an emphasis on the efficient and
enthusiastic servicing of internal and external clients. The Box Office Manager supervises others who work on evenings,
weekends and public holidays and must be willing, on occasion, to work outside normal working hours.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Co-ordinate the operations of the Araluen Box Office ensuring excellence in customer service.
2. Ensure on-going maintenance and upkeep of the Ferve ticketing system and Retail Manager system, including
establishing and maintaining relevant content on the systems and supervision of all processing.
3. Generate regular sales reports, statistical reports and other marketing and financial information as required.
4. Supervise, roster and train Box Office and Information Officer Staff in the operation of relevant systems including the
ticketing system, point of sale system, Box Office and Information Officer Procedures and the provision of quality
customer service.
5. Liaise with theatre technical staff, customer service staff and tour managers to ensure smooth running of performances
and correct event ticketing in the Araluen Theatre.
6. Liaise with exhibitors and visual arts staff to ensure the timely and accurate sale of artworks from exhibitions held in
galleries.
7. Induct, train and develop Box Office staff in the operation of the ticketing system, point of sale system, Box Office
procedures and the provision of quality customer service.
8. Supervise stock ordering and control of stock for retail outlet/s.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive experience in retail management systems (MYOB), and an ability to support these applications.
2. Demonstrated experience in the supervision, training and rostering of staff, and motivating staff to set and maintain high
standards of customer service and presentation.
3. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and liaison skills and the ability to apply these when dealing with internal
and external clients, and colleagues in individual and team settings.
4. Demonstrated experience in the management and handling of cash and monetary transactions including end of day
balance and banking procedures.
5. Strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise workloads in a highly interactive area with strict public program and
performance deadlines.
6. Thorough knowledge of the operation of a range of Windows-based computer applications, in particular Word, Excel and
Outlook (or similar).
7. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and ensure Work Health and Safety system
compliance.
8. Current Senior First Aid Certificate and Northern Territory Driver’s Licence or have the ability to obtain one.
Desirable
1. Experience in the use of box office ticketing systems (or similar).
2. Understanding of NT Government policy and procedures relating to financial management.
