The Opportunity University High School is seeking an energetic and committed Boys Frosh/Soph Basketball Assistant Coach for the 2025–26 season. This part-time, seasonal role is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching the game, mentoring student-athletes, and contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture. The Assistant Coach will work under the direction of the Frosh/Soph Head Coach to support player development, practice execution, and game-day preparation. The ideal candidate brings enthusiasm, patience, and a growth mindset—focused on helping student-athletes develop skills, confidence, and character both on and off the court. What You'll Do Assist in planning and conducting practices and game preparation. Support the Head Coach in creating a team environment centered on effort, respect, and improvement. Teach and reinforce basketball fundamentals, teamwork, and situational awareness. Provide feedback and encouragement to student-athletes during practices and games. Promote sportsmanship, accountability, and a team-first mentality. Collaborate with the Frosh/Soph Head Coach and Varsity staff to maintain program consistency. Maintain supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and games. Support clear communication with athletes, families, and the Athletic Department. Requirements Qualifications Prior playing and/or coaching experience at the youth, club, high school, or collegiate level. Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and game management. Ability to communicate clearly and positively with student-athletes. Team-oriented, reliable, and organized. Enthusiasm for mentoring young athletes and fostering a positive learning environment. CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain before the season). Compensation This is a seasonal, part-time position with a pay range of $5,000 – $8,000, commensurate with experience and team assignment. Ready to Inspire Our Athletes?
