Job Description We are currently seeking an experienced Brake Engineer for a contract role with one of our customers located in Geelong. In this role, you will be working in a dynamic global environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the design and development of brake system components, ensuring compliance with safety, performance, cost, and timing requirements. Develop and validate designs using Ford-specific tools such as Design Rules, SDS, and Attachment A, ensuring alignment with global standards. Apply reliability and robustness tools (FMEA, RRCL, P-Diagrams) to ensure high-quality, durable designs. Manage projects from concept to production, coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams across design, testing, and manufacturing. Utilize WERS, Digital Buck, and eFDVS for component release, 3D design review, and performance validation. Support prototype and pre-production builds, addressing technical issues promptly and ensuring readiness for mass production. Use quality systems such as AIMS and Global 8D for issue tracking, root cause analysis, and effective resolution. Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure consistent design practices and continuous process improvement. LEADERSHIP & TECHNICAL Proven team leadership and decision-making ability. Strong knowledge of brake systems, GD&T, CAE tools, and manufacturing processes. Skilled in validation, verification, and continuous design improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s in Engineering with 5+ years’ experience in brakes or chassis design. Strong in project management, Six Sigma, DFMEA/PFMEA, and GPDS processes.
