Description Brake Operator I Full-time | Permanent |Swing Shift Hourly | $22 - $24 an hour *We are not currently working with third party agencies on this role. Summary: This position is responsible for basic form operations and set-ups. Responsibilities: Perform duties as assigned by the Brake Lead. Develop operator skills. Run out set ups that have been proven, and make minor changes in tooling and machine controller to maintain tolerance on very specific dimensions, as assigned by the Brake Lead. Know how to measure dimensions with dial calipers, squares, and protractors. Clean department when needed. This can be anything from sweeping, mopping, and wiping down the brakes. Help higher-level operators to stay busy by assisting them with material handling, or assisting them with large parts. Move as directed by the Brake Lead to other areas of shop as the workload dictates. Helps to keep Brake Department area clean and orderly. Other duties as assigned. Ability to make minor adjustments to machines as directed by the Brake Lead, and knowing what some of the duties are before being asked to do them. Beginning use of “k” factors. Use shop math to perform simple part “back-checks”. Requirements Education and Experience Requires 1-year working experience in a precision sheet metal environment with a minimum of 6 months as a Brake Operator. Requires the ability to read and understand written documents. Knowledge / Skills Requires the ability to read and understand written documents. Ability to visually differentiate between metal types such as aluminum and steel. Know how to use dial calipers, squares and protractor. Know how to use a calculator, and basic arithmetic, such as addition subtraction, multiplication and division. Must know basic third angle projection as it pertains to print interpretation and understand most basic print call outs and notes. Physical Requirements Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Responsibilities
This role involves performing basic form operations and setups under the direction of the Brake Lead, including running proven setups and making minor adjustments to tooling and machine controllers to maintain specified tolerances. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness in the department and assisting higher-level operators with material handling or large parts.
