ROLE DESCRIPTION

Are you hands-on, practical, and ready to start your career in the builders’ merchant industry?
Join our team at our Derby depot as a Yard Apprentice and learn what it takes to keep a busy builder’s merchant running smoothly. You’ll work outdoors, support our yard and logistics operations, and receive full training — including your forklift licence.
This is an ideal role if you enjoy physical work, like being part of a team, and want to learn in a fast-paced, real-world environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Assisting with the safe loading and unloading of delivery vehicles
• Picking and preparing customer orders
• Keeping the yard clean, safe, and well-organised
• Learning how to operate forklifts and other yard equipment (with full training provided)
• Supporting with goods in/out and basic stock control
• Helping customers in the yard with collections
• Following health & safety procedures at all times
• Shadowing experienced yard and transport team members to build your knowledge
