Job Details Job Location: Harlingen Branch - Harlingen, TX 78550 Position Type: Full Time PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION The incumbent has assistant managerial responsibility of the branch operations with direction and oversight from the Branch Manager, including sales, staff, security, and overall maintenance of the branch. Manages and directs the overall operation of the Teller Department in partnership with the Branch Manager. Ensure quality service to our members following credit union policies and procedures. Consistently communicates the credit union’s vision, strategy and changes to branch staff. Monitor and direct branch sales, staff, and operations with the input of the branch manager. Ensure branch staff have adequate cash for operations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNTIONS Managing, Leading and Coaching. Actively supports the Vision, Mission and Operating Objectives of the credit union while being member focused, always displaying a friendly, helpful, professional and positive attitude. Responsible for directing, maintaining quality and progress of work. Assists with managing branch office in absence of Branch Manager. Establish work method and workflow and ensure timeliness of work completion. Ensure staff is motivated through training, coaching, supervision, and review of department activity and results to fulfill branch and credit union One Page Strategy. Effectively works with Vault Teller and Sales Coaches to develop and implement and staff IDPs. Supervises the Vault Teller/Teller Team Lead in their role and responsibilities of maintaining an efficient and member-centric front line and vault. Responsible for the management and growth of the branch, including daily operations, lending and member service. Completes orientation of new employees in overall branch procedures; complete check in responsibilities for new and transferred teller staff. Holds meetings at least twice a month with branch employees to for discussing areas needing improvement, provide effective feedback, disseminate changes in procedures, product knowledge, promoting a sales and service culture, etc. Monitors quality of service and member surveys and ensures that employees are maximizing opportunities to cross-selling products. Participates in interviews for hiring new branch employees. May make hiring recommendations but does not have the authority to extend offers of employment. Serves as the contact for Teller Department issues including but not limited to scheduling and approving leave requests, counseling, and training. Evaluate the work performance of branch staff. Under guidance of Branch Manager ensures the Teller and Vault Teller/Teller Team Lead annual evaluations are completed and administered on time. Under guidance of Branch Manager ensure the Member Service staff 90-day evaluations are completed and administered on time. Creates member service staff schedule and reviews teller staff schedule ensuring sufficient coverage for efficiency and member needs. Responsible for ensuring the completion of the end of month reports – reporting to Branch Manager. Based on staff’s skill development, recommend changes, promotions, overrides, and check approval limits to Branch Manager Promote the credit union’s positive image through internal contacts as well as involvement in outside activities, including CU sponsored clubs and organization, maintaining effective and productive relationships with community groups meeting minimum standards set by the credit union. Service and Cross sales Assumes responsibility for ensuring and performing efficient, effective, and professional front line operations. Responsible for assignment and distribution of workflow. Answers member and staff questions, solves problems/complaints, and assists with complex transactions and sensitive member issues. Handle concerns registered by members involving the branch, keeping the Branch Manager informed of member’s concerns and request assistance when necessary. Monitors and ensures teller staff works towards achieving the minimum standard survey score. Through Branch Manager and Sales Coach, monitors and ensures Member Service team meet minimum performance standards set by the credit union. Assists with training, direction and coaching of staff in fostering a sales and service culture. Motivates staff in cross-sell activities and/or develops engagement program based on the goals of the credit union. Meets or exceeds operational objectives regarding sales, service and financial objectives. Branch Security and Compliance Serves as a point of escalation and research and can authorize exceptions to normal policy or procedures when circumstances warrant, and deviation is justified. Ensure protection of credit union interest in matters of documentation and adherence to policies and applicable laws and regulations. Institute and implement branch procedure changes, as well as overall policy and procedures changes. Responsible for proper control and monthly audit of blank laser check stock, and debit cards. Responsible for ensuring proper supply and control and accountability of the cash maintained in the branch, SDB e-cash and ATM/ITM. Audits branch vault (under dual control) periodically, (at least quarterly and before vacations, extended leave, and terminations) and forward documentation to internal auditor upon request; inclusive of SDB e-cash as applicable. Ensure surveillance system is functioning properly, test quarterly and document. Ensure facility is maintained in excellent condition and monthly safety and security inspections are performed. Performs duties of a vault teller, teller, or other operational positions as required. Assist branch personnel and operational issues in the absence of the Branch Manager. Verify security and internal control procedures are in place, efficient and adhered to. Verifies (under dual control) periodically, (at least quarterly and before vacations, extended leave and termination’s) cash issued to employees in branch and forward documentation to internal auditor when requested. Maintain facility in excellent condition and monthly safety and security inspections performed. RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS Supervise Approximately: Up to 20, 8 direct reports. Reports To: Branch Manager Contact: Branch and department managers, employees, vendors, and credit union members. Considerable tact and diplomacy are necessary to deal with difficult member issues. Requirements EDUCATION Associates degree, or equivalent work experience EXPERIENCE Five (5) years in branch operations to include a minimum of (1) year member service with cross and up selling of products and services. Two (2) year supervisory experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Position involves wrist / hand manipulation, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, ability to bend stoop and reach overhead. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for frequent viewing of computer monitor and review of documents. Communication abilities required by this job includes clarity in speech and hearing for effective staff/member interaction. Must be flexible and willing to travel or relocate to different branches, inclusive of outlying locations. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Most important to this position is to be highly motivated with good communication skills and capable of leadership by example; maintain a high level of confidentiality. Strong organizational, supervisory skills and lending experience preferred. EQUIPMENT SKILLS Personal computer with windows environment, calculator, cash recycler/dispenser, copy machine, scanner, ATM depository, ITM, currency counter, debit card imprinter.
