This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Branch Executive Director at YMCA of Greater Seattle stewards the Y’s cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization within the community. The Branch Executive Director oversees the operation of the Y and participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, and collaboration with community stakeholders.
The branch executive is responsible for the successful management of the day-to-day operations of a branch in one of the largest YMCAs in the United States. The position is also responsible for staff development, fiscal management, community outreach, branch advisory council development, local philanthropic efforts, membership engagement, program delivery, and diversity, inclusion, and equity culture building for the service area in conjunction with the AVP of Branch Operations and Centers of Excellence.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience in, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
Essential Functions
- Provides leadership and direction to assigned branch by coaching and providing overall direction, performance management, and development to the branch staff and volunteers.
- Manages the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets and key performance indicators meet or exceed targets.
- Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
- Maintains diverse advisory councils that actively support the Y’s goals and strategic plans. Recruits, selects, and develops diverse volunteers for the branch board. Clarifies and reinforces the division of roles and responsibilities between corporate boards, management or advisory boards, staff, and general volunteers.
- Builds bridges within the community so that all segments of society have access to the Y.
- Represents and promotes the Y in the local communities and develops positive, effective working relationships with branch advisory council, community organizations, school district, businesses and governmental agencies in service delivery areas.
- Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, and community leaders) develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
- In partnership with Centers of Excellence and AVP of Branch Operations, develop and direct the operational growth of assigned branch through membership growth, member experience including member/participant recruitment, retention and program expansion.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop programs in collaboration with Centers of Excellence which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- Oversees program delivery at the branch and partners with all Centers of Excellence and AVP of Branch Operations to assure high quality results and consistent safety, which support branch, district and association mission, goals and strategies.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Serves as a member of assigned Association, branch groups and committees to support the overall objectives of the Association.
