Description Merchants Bank is very excited to be opening a new branch in Bloomington, IN this Spring! As a Branch Manager you will serve as the face of the branch within the local community, actively building strong relationships and fostering trust to drive business growth. This role is responsible for leading business development efforts, managing day-to-day branch operations, and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. The Branch Manager coaches and motivates retail staff to achieve performance goals while creating a positive, customer-focused environment. Additionally, the Branch Manager engages in community involvement and establishes Centers of Influence to develop new deposit and lending opportunities, leveraging these relationships to attract and retain customers. A successful Branch Manager will build a highly engaged team that meets goals, maintains operational excellence, and provides outstanding customer service. The Branch Manager should establish a strong presence in the local community, actively participating in events and developing relationships that generate new business opportunities. By serving as a trusted advisor and community leader, the Branch Manager will strengthen the branch’s reputation, expand its customer base, and contribute to long term profitability. Serve as the face of the branch in the local community by actively participating in community events, networking opportunities, and outreach initiatives to strengthen the branch’s presence and reputation. Deliver high-level service and relationship management to the bank’s clients, ensuring a personalized and positive experience. Identify and solicit new client opportunities within the bank’s target markets, leveraging community engagement to attract new business. Establish and nurture Centers of Influence and strategic partnerships within the community to generate new deposit and lending relationships. Manage the activities and performance of retail staff, focusing on cross-selling opportunities and delivering exceptional, high-touch customer service. Take ownership of client problem resolution, ensuring timely communication and effective solutions. Ensure compliance with the bank’s audit, regulatory, and operational policies, and support staff adherence to these standards. Collaborate with management to provide training and development for staff, equipping them to achieve outstanding sales and service levels. Lead and supervise retail employees in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, and addressing employee concerns. Requirements What we are looking for... Bachelor’s degree or professional equivalent of five years sales or business development management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-4 years of retail banking experience, including customer service and sales responsibilities preferred. Prior experience in supervisory or leadership roles within a retail environment preferred. Community involvement or experience in business development through networking and relationship building is strongly preferred. Strong leadership and coaching abilities to motivate staff and drive performance. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage branch operations efficiently. High-level problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with a focus on customer satisfaction. High attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and reconciliation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all interactions.
