Description:
THE AEC’S VALUES AND COMMITMENTS
The AEC values and commitments are an essential component of our operating environment and frame how AEC staff work. The AEC’s focus is on electoral integrity through the values of quality, agility and professionalism.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Branch Project Officer to provide high-level executive support to the Assistant Commissioner, Communication, Education and Engagement Branch and ensure the efficient functioning of their office and the broader branch.
You will be responsible for providing executive support in a professional, accurate and timely manner. You will undertake work that is at times complex and sensitive in nature, requiring strong organisational, coordination and communication skills.
You will also be responsible for playing a critical coordination role across the branch, including managing inputs from different business areas, and collaborating to achieve shared outcomes. This includes creating and maintaining branch artefacts and coordinating tasks across all sections.
During an electoral event, as the Branch is responsible for critical electoral communications and education campaigns, this role may require irregular hours onsite during the writ-to-writ period of an electoral event.
To excel you’ll have:
- Exceptional organisational skills, including the ability to manage the Assistant Commissioner’s calendar, prioritise and schedule meetings, manage and track tasks from business areas, book travel and reconcile travel expenses.
- Sound judgement and a high degree of initiative, integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Confidence and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority both in writing and verbally.
- Demonstrated experience providing highly organised coordination and administrative support, including the ability to prioritise work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Well-developed computer and telephony skills, including strong experience with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to remain positive and respond to pressure in a calm manner, while committing energy and drive to see that goals are achieved.
Desirable
- Senior executive support in the APS.
Responsibilities:
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.
