The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University. The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution. In addition to providing wage-based service staff positions for students wanting employment, the AMS seeks to support the Society's broader objectives through the provisioning of a high quality, relevant range of student funded services, that provide a wide range of employment opportunities and meaningful out-of-classroom learning and skill acquisition experiences for students. Brand Ambassador Reports To Director of Marketing Job Summary The Marketing Office is responsible for engaging with the student body, identifying their needs and wants, and assuring that they are made aware of the resources and opportunity that the Alma Mater Society provides them. Brand Ambassadors will plan and execute events, sessions, and initiatives in which the Alma Mater Society (AMS) actively engages with and reaches out to students for the purpose of recruitment to AMS work and volunteer opportunities, conducting marketing research (survey taking), and generally raising awareness of the AMS. Job Competencies Communication Organization Ownership Attention to detail Creativity Cultural Sensitivity Job Duties Participate in marketing research initiatives on campus. Generate ideas and initiatives for pan-AMS outreach and recruitment initiatives. Assist the Human Resources Office and the Marketing Office with all recruitment periods (Orientation Week events, Winter Hiring, career fairs, information booths, etc.) Develop and implement new methods for ongoing AMS research tactics that will increase participation. Attend all training sessions to become familiar with the department and adhere to the general operations of the department Maintain displays of all recruitment materials, ensuring that all locations are stocked in both the Fall and Winter semesters. This includes the re-approval of posters through the Student Life Centre, distributing brochures and rave cards around campus and ensuring that services have posters displayed.
