About the role
Founded in 2001, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. We are an independent not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being. We champion the rights of people seeking asylum and mobilise a community of compassion to create lasting social and policy change.
We are a values-driven organisation that strives to be part of a change movement that supports people seeking asylum by providing critical services such as assistance with accommodation, food, medical and legal services.
The ASRC movement is proudly supported by a community of committed volunteers and supporters who embrace the organisation’s vision that people seeking asylum can live safely, sustainably, independently and equally.
About The Role
The ASRC is seeking a highly motivated and strategic marketing professional, who has outstanding communications and marketing experience, to lead the busy ASRC in-house marketing team.
This is an integral role within the organisation and requires someone with excellent project management skills, empathy, creativity, and a strategic mindset. The successful candidate will have a talent and passion for developing effective communication and campaigns that deliver excellent engagement and reach.
The role is both strategic and operational; pivoting between providing leadership, guidance and oversight as you develop the new Brand and Communication strategy for ASRC, while working with a talented and diverse team to build creative, innovative and culturally appropriate campaigns that enable refugee story-telling.
The Marketing and Brand Manager plays an integral role in identifying and developing stakeholder relationships. The role is responsible for identifying and developing key business and media relationships as well as ambassador partnerships for ASRC to leverage our brand awareness and drive market penetration.
About You
This diverse role would suit a passionate and driven marketing professional with substantial agency or in-house experience.

In addition to your tertiary qualifications in Marketing or equivalent experience in a marketing and brand role, you will possess the following skills and expertise:

  • Strong leadership with experience managing a team of marketing and communications professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability in concept creation and execution of marketing and brand campaigns that deliver financial and non-financial results, within agreed budget and timeframes.
  • Experience in leading marketing campaigns for fundraising is highly desirable.
  • Developed skills in campaign measurement and tracking, with experience in optimisation informed by data analysis and modelling.
  • Expert knowledge of marketing automation software, content management systems as well as social media platforms and tools.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders to produce effective copy.
  • Experience in digital marketing platforms for example Mailchimp and Wordpress.
  • Strong internal stakeholder and client relationship management skills, including working with leadership teams, media, PR and third parties.

Lived experience of seeking asylum in Australia is highly desirable. Knowledge of policy and issues impacting on people seeking asylum in Australia would also be advantageous.
