ABOUT OUR CLIENT:

Our client, a high-growth personal care company, is looking for a strategic, agile and innovative Brand Director to join their team and hit the ground running. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and innovative brand leader, who has experience in brand strategy, innovation and communication. Ideally, this person will have a background in CPG, and a passion for the Beauty, Cosmetics, Personal Care, and Fashion/ Lifestyle sectors. This is a highly cross-functional role and the successful candidate will be required to collaborate with Sales, Marketing Communications, Product Development, Operation, Finance, Business Analytics and senior leadership to develop and implement strategy that aligns with the company vision, and can drive brand growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Brand Director will perform a diverse range of functions including but limited to:

  • Brand Building - clearly and effectively get the brand’s purpose and vision out to accelerate growth
  • Lead the development of brand management processes and capabilities, including competitive analysis, architecture mapping, planning, measurement, ROI, standards and governance
  • Be responsible for overall brand ownership, including brand strategy, brand vision, mission, and goals
  • Champion the brand internally and externally making sure all elements of the company and external stakeholders understand the brand and its goals
  • Lead the development of go-to-market strategies, campaigns, and goals that drive consumer demand
  • Lead productive, cross-functional relationships across all internal teams, including Sales, Marketing Communications, Operations, Product Development, Finance, Business Analytics, Regulatory, Quality Control, etc.
  • Develop high-quality and effective marketing materials for toolkits that align correctly with the overall brand strategy
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders and agency partners to develop and implement innovative strategies and promotional elements that drive sales
  • Leverage consumer, category and competitive insights to identify opportunities for brand development.
  • Analyze and understand market and industry trends, sales data and KPIs to perform competitive auditing and inform product development
  • Lead new product concepting processes, and collaborate with Demand Planning, Product Development and R&D
  • Lead Brand Communications Strategy and Innovation Strategy
  • Develop and translate the brand voice through all marketing activations
  • Develop compelling story telling to represent the brand
  • Develop high quality and effective marketing assets such as brand videos, digital media assets, social media assets and e-commerce assets
  • Develop effective Go-To-0Market Strategies to drive market penetration and commercial success
  • Lead the planning and execution of product launches
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of competitors, categories, market, consumers, and products to garner insights to feed into the development of new products and go-to-market plans
  • Analyze sales and marketing data to give key updates on the business and category.
  • Evaluate the performance of executed activities and campaigns to ascertain their effectiveness in meeting brand objectives
  • Track performance, identify issues, trends, and opportunities, and continuously improve plans and their execution

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years’ experience in Brand Management within CPG/ Consumer Products
  • Brand experience with Beauty, Cosmetics & Personal care preferred
  • Knowledge of category (major competitors, target users, industry trends) preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity, and initiative
  • Driven to remove obstacles and accomplish goals
  • Demonstrable track record of managing new products from concept development to launch and placement
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of products
  • Knowledge and experience of managing product commercialization process
  • Understanding of retail and shopper dynamics in Canada and the US
  • Ability to analyze sales and market data
  • Knowledge of AC Nielsen, Nielsen, POS, IRI, SPINS, or other CPG consumer/ customer Analytics is an asset
  • Strong passion for beauty and trends, understanding of haircare and personal care market dynamics
  • Previous experience in the beauty industry is preferred
  • High proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Hybrid Office: Able to work in-office 3 days/week
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA in Business, Marketing, Social Sciences - Psychology, Sociology, Economics), MBA preferred
