Description

Do you have what it takes to nurture today’s young people and inspire tomorrow’s leaders? Do you have the drive, passion and commitment to deliver outstanding learning and teaching to young people in a disadvantaged community? If so, becoming a Star teacher might just be the best career move you ever make.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Brass and Trumpet Teacher to teach for 6.5 hours per week on a Monday. Qualified teacher status is not a requirement for the role, but the role requires experience in a teaching environment, working with large groups of pupils (15+). The ideal candidate will be a skilled brass musician, preferably with professional performance experience, however in future years might expand to include other instruments within the brass family including non-valved instruments such as the trombone. Strong instrumental delivery skills and the ability to engage and inspire pupils and deliver high quality teaching is essential. You will be able to demonstrate experience of achieving positive outcomes for pupils, as well as being passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people.
As an unqualified teacher at the school you’ll join the Star Academies family, a high-performing and supportive network of primary and secondary schools with some of the best teachers in education. This role will form an integral part of the music department and curriculum/timetable and there may be an opportunity for the hours to expand over time. During the 2025-2026 academic year the post will focus fully upon the delivery of trumpet tuition, however in future years might expand to include other instruments within the brass family. As a committed team player, you will have excellent organisational skills and the natural ability to motivate both pupils and peers.
