Bread Baker (Evening Shift)
Summerhill Market is a boutique grocery store chain in Toronto that specializes in scratch-made prepared foods and on-trend ingredients. Our stores go above and beyond a typical grocery store by offering an extensive rotating selection of ready-to-eat gourmet meals, freshly baked goods, and curated hard-to-find groceries.
We are looking for a Bread Baker to join our Bread Production team at our Bakery Production Kitchen on the evening shift starting at 2:00 PM!

SKILLSET REQUIREMENTS:

  • Passion for bread baking – you take pride in producing high-quality baked goods!
  • 1+ years of experience in bread baking or food production, preferably in a high-volume setting.
  • Strong understanding of bread baking techniques, including fermentation, proofing, and shaping.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience operating commercial baking equipment.
  • Tech-savvy; comfortable using MS Office and inventory/order management systems.
  • Flexible availability to work the evening shift, starting at 2:00 PM, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

As a Bread Baker, you will play a hands-on role in daily bakery operations, ensuring quality and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and baking a variety of bread products for our grocery retail locations.
  • Mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, and packaging bread according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Producing bread-based ingredients, such as puff pastry, to be sent to our Commissary for use in prepared foods like pot pies.
  • Following ordering and inventory control guidelines to minimize waste and ensure ingredient availability.
  • Adhering to food safety and quality assurance standards.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring bakery equipment is properly used and maintained.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting baking and production challenges as needed.
  • Following company policies, food safety regulations, and health & safety standards.
  • Additional duties as required.
