Description
Circuit Breaker Technician Schedule Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm Overview This is a hands on technical role focused on repairing, upgrading, reconditioning, and remanufacturing electrical equipment ranging from a single circuit breaker to a complete substation. You will work with mechanical and electrical components, follow detailed work instructions, and help ensure equipment is restored safely, accurately, and on time. This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, electrically capable, detail oriented, and ready to work in a fast paced shop environment. What you will do Breaker service and repair • Clean electrical parts and components • Disassemble circuit breakers and reinstall electrical components with proper documentation • Read breaker evaluations and work orders and perform the service requested by the customer • Troubleshoot and repair circuit breakers • Work safely on stored energy mechanisms • Remove electrical parts for reconditioning, including auxiliary switches, motors, relays, and coils • Confirm electrical parts are functioning properly before reinstalling them on the breaker Electrical testing and troubleshooting • Read manuals and follow detailed instructions for adjusting equipment • Read schematics, point to point diagrams, and one line wiring diagrams • Test and troubleshoot electrical wiring • Electrically operate a circuit breaker from a wiring schematic, including charge, close, and trip functions • Operate test equipment relevant to the breaker type Documentation and support • Maintain records of all work performed, including images of breakers received and progress throughout the project • Keep the work area clean, organized, and ready for the next job • Support onsite and emergency jobs when needed May be modified from time to time. Other duties, tasks, and work may be assigned. What success looks like • Breakers are reconditioned accurately and in a timely manner based on experience level • Work is completed safely and in alignment with shop procedures • Documentation is complete, organized, and includes required project images • Work areas remain clean and orderly • Projects are completed on time with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship What we are looking for • High school diploma or GED required • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems safely and effectively • Ability to use measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and tape measures • Willingness to read and study OEM manuals and technical literature • Must be mechanically inclined and provide your own tools • Willingness and ability to travel to job sites after training, when needed • Detail oriented with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and team mindset • Organized with solid time management skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment • Clear written and verbal communication skills • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint • Ability to organize and write procedures in a logical and methodical manner • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a project driven environment Physical requirements • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 25 pounds continuously • Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion • Frequent walking • Occasional reaching or working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Equal Opportunity Employer Group CBS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
