Description The Clocktower Hotel at Century House is looking for a hotel Breakfast Chef to fill an immediate opening in Latham, NY. The qualified Breakfast Chef has excellent customer service, organizational, and cooking abilities. They have at least two years of line cook experience, along with experience in food costing and menu creation. Available hours are Monday through Friday between 5:30 and 11 am and on weekends between 6 am and 11:30 am. For the right candidate, we promise a fun, safe, positive atmosphere! Job Description: Planning/Organization · Places orders for breakfast food to budget. · Plans and makes suggestions for equipment needs to prepare and serve breakfast. · Plans rotating breakfast menu. · Plans menu and preparation to minimize waste and loss of stock. · Ensures that each product is counted, weighed, and checked against documents when receiving deliveries. Responsible for Breakfast safety · Observes all hygiene regulations rigidly in accordance with Dept of Health. · Reports any faulty or damaged equipment immediately to the Maintenance team. · Ensures that all reasonable care is taken for the health and safety of all staff in the kitchen area. · Ensures familiarization with location of all firefighting equipment, and ability to use the equipment when needed. · Attends any training courses required by management. · Follows updates and makes necessary adjustments. · Takes action on incidents, accidents, and damages, and reports to the Hotel Manager. Food preparation · Prepares and serves food to the highest levels of guest satisfaction. · Accepts feedback on menu and food preparation. · Responsible for preparation and production of food within agreed standards for the assigned area and within designated food cost. · Ensures all necessary mise-en-place is ready prior to service. Guest Service · Offer guests assistance whenever possible. · Assists with serving guests, replenishing buffet throughout service, and engages with guests. · Responsible for resolving or escalating customer relations issues. · Ensures all spills are cleaned up as soon as they occur. Other Duties as Assigned · Performs other duties as assigned. Salary · $18.00 - $20.00 per hour Requirements · Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. · Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. · One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Ability to use this equipment and others found in the kitchen: o Ovens o Stove o Mixers o Slicers o Basic kitchen utensils o Knives o Industrial Dishwasher · Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. · While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
