Job Title: Breakfast Cook
Location: 845 Lakeshore Road East Mississauga
Department: Kitchen
Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Job Summary:
The Breakfast Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast dishes according to the menu and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of breakfast cuisine, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation:
- Prepare and cook breakfast items including eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, waffles, French toast, and other menu items.
- Follow recipes and presentation guidelines to ensure consistent quality and appearance of dishes.
- Manage food prep for peak service times, ensuring all ingredients are ready and available.
2. Cooking and Service:
- Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and toasters safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of cooked food, adjusting cooking methods as needed.
- Plate and garnish dishes in an aesthetically pleasing manner, adhering to restaurant standards.
3. Kitchen Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cooking area, including proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
- Handle and store food items properly, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the Kitchen Manager.
4. Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Communicate effectively with waitstaff and management regarding special orders or dietary restrictions.
- Assist with training new kitchen staff as needed.
5. Inventory and Supplies:
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking of ingredients and supplies.
- Monitor food quality and freshness, minimizing waste by using ingredients efficiently.
6.Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school training or relevant experience preferred.
- Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a breakfast-focused environment.
- Knowledge of breakfast food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards.
- Ability to work early mornings and handle high-volume cooking.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as needed.
- Manual dexterity to handle kitchen tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in a hot and noisy environment.
7. Working Conditions:
- Early morning shifts with potential weekend and holiday work.
- Fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent standing, bending, and lifting.
