We are currently seeking a Part-Time Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to join our WIC team in Brooklyn, NY. As a Peer Counselor, you’ll provide one-on-one support, encouragement, and information to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, helping them navigate early motherhood with confidence. This is a unique opportunity for someone with personal breastfeeding experience who is enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and building supportive relationships with other women in their community. What You'll Do: Offer encouragement and basic breastfeeding education through phone calls, in-person visits, and group workshops. Support WIC participants during prenatal and postpartum stages. Help facilitate breastfeeding support groups and attend community health events. Maintain accurate records and ensure strict confidentiality. Work flexible hours outside the traditional 9–5 to meet the needs of new moms. Participate in trainings, conferences, and team meetings to expand your skills and knowledge. Requirements What We're Looking For: High School Diploma or GED. Previous personal breastfeeding experience. Completion of Peer Counselor Training (or willingness to complete). A current or former WIC participant or a member of the local community. Warm, supportive, and nurturing personality. Reliable phone access and transportation.
