Job Details Job Location: PUTNAM COUNTY HOSPITAL - GREENCASTLE, IN Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: Undisclosed Job Shift: Day Description Putnam County Hospital is looking for a part-time Breastfeeding Coordinator to join the WIC team! This position is 15 hours per week and primarily responsible for breastfeeding promotion, protection, and support activities within the clinic. This role will oversee the WIC Breastfeeding Support Program. Job Duties/Responsibilities: • Display a positive reflection of the Indiana WIC program in the clinic and community outreach events • Maintain a compassionate clinic environment that supports the needs of the community • Support and promote breastfeeding as the normative infant feeding method within clinic • Ensure confidentiality of applicant and client information in accordance with WIC federal regulations. Follow all policies and procedures of the Indiana WIC program • Develop working relationships with other staff and partnering community agencies • Provide all pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding clients with evidence based breastfeeding support Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of local agency breastfeeding activities • Document required information in the Indiana WIC Management Information System (INWIC MIS) • Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Job Requirements: • Qualified Nutritionist • Registered Dietitian; or • Registration eligible to take the exam for the Commission on • Dietetic Registration; or • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Nutrition Sciences • Registered Nurse • A graduate of a bachelor’s or master’s program in a health-related field including study in nutrition • Experience in counseling breastfeeding dyads Preferred Skills: • Experience in maternal and child health or public health setting preferred.
Responsibilities
The Breastfeeding Coordinator is responsible for promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding activities within the clinic. This role includes overseeing the WIC Breastfeeding Support Program and ensuring a compassionate environment for clients.
