Job Purpose To provide Engineering support and technical review capability to the third-party team to help them achieve their objective of facilitating third-party access to the CRN Network and Structures. The position provides a first point of review and ensures compliance of designs against CRN Standards, and liaises with applicants and internal stakeholders, such as the Principal Bridge & Structures Engineer, to resolve issues and non-conformances related to CRN Bridges and Structures. Key Responsibilities Review technical content of third-party works applications, development applications and property leases for compliance against technical standards and make recommendations to the Principal Bridge & Structures Engineer. Undertake appropriate engineering calculations and software modelling to assess the rated load of the structures and Over Size Over Mass (OSOM) applications on the CRN network. Provide advice and input to the third-party works officers for their approval briefs and license drafts related to CRN Bridges and Structures. Ensure the integrity of the CRN Network and Properties by ensuring impacts from third-party works are minimised and based on technically sound engineering. Investigate and inspect irregularities of the CRN structures (including bridges; culverts; tunnels; water tanks, station platforms, and properties) to prepare detailed and thorough scope documents for projects related to CRN Bridges, Civil Structures, and Properties. Investigate the CRN structures under the guidance of the Principal Bridge & Structures Engineer to assess the risks and find the mitigation measures and areas of improvement, to ensure the asset performance is maintained to deliver the KPIs determined in the contract. Work with applicants, designers, utilities and internal stakeholders to resolve non-compliances against standards and other technical issues. Respond and resolve the Third-Party applications and queries related to bridges, civil structures, and properties under the direction of the Principal Bridge and Structures Engineer. Participate in the review of and/or revision of CRN standards, manuals, specifications and technical notes. Work with the engineering team to make continuous improvements in the processes and quality of engineering outcomes. Perform all duties in accordance with UGLRL policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures. Must be available to travel across NSW as required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural or railway engineering (or other relevant discipline). Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience, as the civil, bridge, and/or structural engineer, in the design or construction of civil infrastructures (such as bridges, wharves, culverts, commercial or residential buildings) in a civil construction, maintenance, engineering consultancy and/or academic & research environments.
