Job Purpose This is a key role in the Asset & Engineering team and reports to the Principal Bridge and Structures Engineer for the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Country Regional Network (CRN) contract. The role holds engineering authority for all CRN Structure, Civil and Facilitates assets and Operational engineering manuals to ensure all legislative, safety, design, technology, operations, maintenance, sustainability and other all relevant engineering requirements. Key Responsibilities Ability to independently undertake appropriate engineering calculations and software modelling to assess the rated load of the structures and Over Size Over Mass (OSOM) applications on the CRN network. Review engineering designs and check their compliance with relevant regulatory, legislative, and Australian standards. Investigate and inspect irregularities of the CRN structures (including bridges; culverts; tunnels; and water tanks) to assess the risks and find the mitigation measures and areas of improvements, to ensure the asset performance is maintained to deliver the KPIs determined in the contract. Prepare scope documents related to repair and enhancement of the CRN structures. Effectively liaise and cooperate with the Structures Superintendent and the Routine Maintenance team to assist them in resolving the technical queries and delivering repair and refurbishment works. Assist the Principal Bridge and Structures Engineer to respond to 3rd Party applications and queries from the civil and structural engineering perspectives. Assist in preparing and/or reviewing engineering waivers against the Engineering Manuals & standards. Work with the Asset and Engineering team to make continuous improvements in the asset management systems, processes and quality of engineering outcomes. Manage sub-consultants and/or sub-contractors to deliver the design and study projects related to the CRN structures. Qualifications Minimum 3 years’ experience in the design or construction of complex infrastructures (such as bridges, wharves, commercial buildings) in a construction, maintenance, or engineering consultancy environment. Experience in working with Australian and local standards related to the design, construction, and inspection of the infrastructures (mainly include AS 5100, AS 3600, AS 1720, AS 4100, AS 1170, RMS bridge inspection manual or similar; CRN standards are preferable). Bachelor’s degree in a civil, structural, or railway engineering (or relevant discipline); master’s degree (or above) in civil engineering is preferred.
